Natural Hoof Care
Continued.....
.....If you would like for your horse to go barefoot the first step is to talk to your farrier about what he or she thinks. Make sure that they give you answers that make sense to you. Research barefoot trims and talk to people who’s horses are sound and barefoot and ask them about their hoof care regimen. Also do be aware that this is not an over night process, sometimes you have to be committed to improving your horses feet for months. They are likely to be unsound for a week to ten days after the removal of the shoes. This is normal and it will improve. Give your horse a little break while he adjusts to the change. In the long run he will be much happier and healthier. If your horse seems to be sore for an extended period of time feel free to call your farrier and discuss the possibility of adjusting the trim or the use of a hoof boot while the horse adjusts.
